Day
01: Yangon- Kyaiktiyo (By Car) (L, D)
Leaving Yangon in the morning, enjoy a scenic journey by road to
Kyaiktiyo, 190km to the east. One of Myanmar’s great pilgrimage
sites is the Golden Rock at Kyaiktiyo, a huge boulder covered by
gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff. The
pagoda at the Golden Rock is said to hold a hair of the Buddha.
Late morning, arrive at Kyaiktiyo base camp and transfer to the
transit junction with one of the small open trucks in a 1-hour
ride.
After lunch, start an easy one-hour walk up to the Golden Rock and
enjoy sunset from this unforgettable site.
Overnight in Kyaiktiyo.
Day 02:
Kyaiktiyo-Hpa-An-Mawlamyine (B, L, D)
After Breakfast, continue by road to Hpa-An, capital of the Karen,
state surrounded by beautiful limestone rock formations. Visit a
traditional Karen village. Then proceed by road to MAWLAMYINE,
formally known as Moulmein. The capital city of Mon State is a
very attractive tropical town.
A hilly ridge above the city offers fine views over the harbour
and the beautiful coconut tree shrouded countryside. The ridge is
topped with 5 fine monasteries and shrines. Arrive and transfer to
Hotel.
Overnight in Mawlamyine.
Day 03: Mawlamyine
(Moulmein) (B, L, D)
After breakfast, visit Mahamuni Pagoda, built in traditional
Mon-style, Kyaikthanlan Pagoda, the city’s tallest and most
visible stupa, and the beautiful Seindon Mibaya wooden monastery.
Walk along Strand Road for a glimpse of the impressive Kaladan
Mosque, built during the colonial era when many Indians came to
work for the British in Moulmein. The city between 1827 and 1852
was the capital of British Burma and even today the city retains
the atmosphere of those colonial times.
Overnight in Moulmein.
Day 04: Moulmein –
Moyungyi Wetlands (B, L, D)
After breakfast, leave Moulmein by road to Moyungyi Wetlands,
situated in Bago Division about north of Yangon by the Yangon –
Mandalay highway. Arrive and boat cruising in the Wetlands, Bird
Watching, Village life and Socio – Economic study.
Overnight at Boat Shape Bungalow at Moyungyi Wetlands.
Day 05: Moyungyi – Bago
– Yangon (B,L)
After Breakfast, Bird watching to see migrated as well as domestic
water birds to takes a photo. Then drive back to Yangon, on the
way visit to Bago, an ancient capital of a former Mon kingdom
dating back to the 6th century and located 80km to the east.
Sightseeing at Bago includes the Shwemawdaw Pagoda and the 55
metre long reclining Shwe Tha Lyaung Buddha image, one of the
country’s most revered.
Arrive Yangon and transfer to your hotel.

Moyungyi Wetlands
Each year millions of birds fly south from the northern
hemisphere along the East Asia Austalasian flyway to escape
the winter weather. They stop to rest and feed in Asia. The
flyway contains a network of wetlands where, Moyungyi Wetlands
100 square kilometers in area is one of which is co-operating
to contain migrated as well as resident water birds. Built in
1878, Moyungyi Wetlands is a huge riverine wetlands
transformed into water storage reservoir.
This wetlands is two hours drive from Yangon. Moyungyi
wetlands is host to 75 species of elusive migratory and
resident water birds. Some of the bird found are Little Grebe,
Purple Heron, Grey Heron, Sarus Crane, Asian Open-Bill, Ruddy
Shelduck, Purple Swamphen, Spot Billed Pelican, Pheasant
Tailed Jacana, Black Winged Stilt, Great Cormorant etc. |
