Day 01 Yangon - Taungoo (by car) - Elephant Camp
(Lunch, Dinner)
Drive to Taungoo. On the way lunch at restaurant. Arrive at
Taungoo. Proceed to Elephant Camp. Sightseeing Forest.
Overnight and dinner at Forest Camp.
Day 02 Elephant Camp
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After Breakfast, fullday nature study sightseeing. Watch oozies
(riders) bathing the elephants in the creek before setting a day’s
work. Trekking in the rain forest following the elephant foot
paths. Observe the exceptionally strong beasts dragging heavy
timber logs and witness timber cutters felling trees. Lunch in the
forest or at the camp. Afternoon trekking in the forest and watch
birds and butterflies and study the forest and its ecosystem.
Dinner and overnight at the elephant camp in camping tents.
Day 03: Elephant Camp -
Taungoo - Yangon
(by car) (Breakfast, Lunch)
Return back to Yangon. Lunch including.
Note:
According to the weather condition, tour might be cancel, delay or
postpone.
Important:
Since the area is malaria infested, visitors need to take malaria
preventive pills, one week before the trip and two weeks after
coming back.

FACTS ON ELEPHANT CAMP NATURE TOUR
LOCATION: Situated in Bago
Division. Drive about (160 miles) north of Yangon along
Yangon-Mandalay highway follow the off-highway timber hauling
earth road for about 25 miles west leading to the forest area
and elephant camp.
THE NATURE FOREST: Myanmar is
still relying on natural forests for logging. The forest type
of the area is mixed deciduous forest and teak bearing.
Myanmar is one of a few countries using elephants for timber
logging. This has led in making less damage to the forest
eco-system as in the mechanical logging, part of the forest
are cut down to construct roads for primary logging.
THE ELEPHANT CAMP: The area is
one of the teak logging sites comprising many private owned
working elephant camps. Usually, camps are selected on the
bank of small streams where there is sufficient sunlight. All
the buildings are built with bamboo and nearby of the camp,
they store elephant dragging gears. |
