Quick Tours:

Nothern Part of myanmar

Our company Oriental Comet Travels Co., Ltd. organized the tour along the famous Burma Road from Chinese Yunnan to Lashio in Western Shan State. Crossing the Myanmar border at Mu Se is possible right now. Also Kachin State can be visited now. The capital of Kachin State, Myitkyina, can be reached by plane from Mandalay. Kachin State has not had too many contacts with modern times yet. But the adventurous tourist will enjoy the warm welcome of unspoiled people, the slow path of life in village, the local markets, the excursions to Indawgyi Lake, to Myitsone and to Hopin. A visit to the North is recommended to adventurous tourists only.

MYITKYINA
Lay in the scratching plain across the Majestic Ayeyarwady river, the capital of Kachin State and gateway to the world renown Jade mines at Hpakant and Myanmar snow-capped mountains. It is also the place where the world-famous Myanmar's principle river, the Ayeyarwaddy, originates. It is the northern most railway terminal, 919 miles from Yangon and 487 miles from Mandalay. 26 miles south of Myitsone, the confluence of Na Meikha and Malikha streams that forms famous Ayeyarwady. Predominately Kachin indigenous with it's own subordinates such as Jampaw, Thempaw, Lisu and Rawan are the amongst the minorities. Myitkyina today become the center of Jade processing and marketing, which make the capital rather cosmopolitan. The major sites to visit are the river confluence. For mountaineering enthusiasts, expeditions to Mount Gamlan Razi 19,215 ft and Ganlan Razi with 19,142 ft would be an adventure. Manu another animist festival held each year in January.

PUTAO
A small, quiet place, surrounded by snow-capped mountains stretching from Tibet in the northwest. Steep fields in the valleys around are cultivated. There are gardens of hill rice, maize and mixed with cereal crops, cucumbers, gourds and huge marrows. The higher region is populated with pine, hemlock and silver fir mixed with some larch. From 2,750 meters to 3,660 meters almost pure conifer forests cover the slopes. There is a abundance of hardwoods such as oak, maple, birch, walnut, chestnut as well as rhododendron and others.

The people in the valleys catch fish in thorn-lined conical fish traps, with nets or harpoon. Cold weather mist hangs over the peaceful and serene surroundings almost 6 months of the year. Flowing streams and rivulets, straw-roofed houses and fences of pebbles and creek stones provide a pleasant, pastoral contrast to the scenes and sights of modern cities. People of the Rawan, Lisu, Khamti-Shan, Jingphaw and Kachin are represented in the region. Simple, direct, hard working and hospitable. They make their living in the lower areas by growing paddy and fruits. Many species of orchid and other exotic flora and fauna such musk deer, takin and flying squirrel are native to this region. The suspension bridges are the typical river crossing in this region.
